Path to Publish - the monthly AJP newsletter

It’s fall!  Back to school, back to teaching, back to the lab bench, and hopefully back to writing that new manuscript to submit to AJP!  If you need some pointers on manuscript prep, submission, or the production process, check out the Instructions to Authors.  We hope to see your work coming through soon!

Also, don't forget that PISA is right around the corner, September 25-27th in Pittsburgh, PA.  There is still time to sign up- Register today!

When preparing figures, make sure all additional markings on the image- arrows, arrowheads, asterisks, lines, circles, etc- are all defined in the figure legend.  Readers need to know what is being indicated by each symbol!

Did you know…

September 11-17 is Peer Review Week!  Here are some brief tips for being the best reviewer you can be:

1. Don’t accept a review invitation you shouldn’t.  It’s ok to say no.

2. Submit your comments on time!  Authors and editors appreciate it.

3. Don’t ignore emails from the editors.  Sometimes we need to talk.

4. Provide comments with substance.  “I like/don't like this paper” isn’t a sufficient critique.

5. Be clear in your recommendations.  Details are helpful for authors when revising their work.

Elsevier is hosting a free webinar September 20th addressing common traps reviewers can fall in.  Click here to learn more!
