Next-Generation Scientist
The Next-Generation Scientist Membership category is a lower cost option for individuals who meet the application criteria for Regular membership and want to explore the benefits of ASIP membership before committing to full Regular membership. Individuals who join as a Next-Generation Scientist receive many of the same benefits of Regular membership, but pay a significantly lower dues rate. This category is only available to new applicants.

2017 Annual Dues Fee: $110.00 (1-year option), $200.00 (2-year option), $300.00 (3-year option)

Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version.

Regular Member
Successful candidates for Regular membership have conducted, published, or supported the conduct of meritorious original research in pathology or a related discipline, support the mission of the Society, and hold a doctorate degree or have equivalent experience. Regular members have the right to hold office and vote for officers of the Society.

2017 Annual Dues Fee: $220.00. Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version. Corresponding authors who are ASIP Regular Members receive a rebate on one (1) color figure when publishing in AJP or JMD.

TRAINEE MEMBERSHIPS - Five categories of Trainee membership:

A) Undergraduate Trainee Member
ASIP Trainee membership is available for students enrolled in an undergraduate program and who support the mission and aims of the Society.

2017 Annual Dues Fee: $10.00. Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version.

B) Pre-Doctoral Trainee Member
Students who are enrolled in a graduate program leading to a degree or dual degrees in medicine, veterinary medicine, osteopathy, pathology, or a related discipline and who support the mission and aims of the Society are eligible for Pre-Doctoral trainee membership. (NOTE: Trainees who were recently awarded a doctoral degree and who are pursuing an additional degree in a separate program are considered Post-Doctoral trainees.)

2017 Annual Dues Fee: $25.00. Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version.

C) Post-Doctoral Trainee Member
Individuals who were recently awarded a doctoral degree and who are pursuing an additional degree in a separate program or occupy a Post-Doctoral fellowship or residency position at an academic center, a hospital, a research institution, or in industry and who support the mission of the Society are eligible for Post-Doctoral trainee membership. (NOTE: Trainees who are enrolled in a graduate program leading to a degree or dual degrees are considered Pre-Doctoral trainees. Trainees who were recently awarded a doctoral degree and who are pursuing an additional degree in a separate program are considered Post-Doctoral trainees.)

D) Senior Post-Doctoral Trainee Member (NEW)

Post-Doctoral Fellows who enter their fifth year of post-doc training qualify to be Senior Post-Doctoral Trainees through their seventh year of postdoc training.

E) Physician Scientist (Includes Residents, and Clinical-Post-Dcotoral Fellow) (NEW)

Qualified applicants may be Post-Doctoral or Senior Post-Doctoral Trainees, depending on where they are in their progression.  Examples are MDs in residency, combined MD/PhD programs once they have received their first degree (either MD or PhD), DVMs in residency (who often pursue a PhD at the same time).  Fellowships focus on either research or clinical training.  Individuals may remain in this member category for up to seven years. 


2017 Annual Dues Fee: $50.00 (PGY 1-4 years), $75.00 (PGY 5-7 years)

Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version.

Associate Member
Candidates for Associate membership support the mission and aims of the Society but do not have a graduate degree or evidence of scholarly work in pathology or a related discipline. Associate members are typically technologists or science faculty of high schools and colleges.

2017 Annual Dues Fee: $85.00. Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version.

Emeritus Member
A Regular member in good standing may apply for transfer to emeritus membership if that person has retired from professional duties and meets other standards as set by the Council.

2017 Annual Dues Fee: $25.00, or Lifetime Dues Fee: One-time payment of $100.00.

Includes an online subscription to The American Journal of Pathology (AJP) and The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics (JMD) with the option to upgrade to include the print version.
